I think our day in Nice was my favorite. The weather was perfect, the city was beautiful and we got to dip our feet in the Mediterranean.
Jean Luc Pele chocolates was just around the corner from our apartment in Cannes. Across from the display case there is a large wall-sized photo of a man and a woman wearing nothing but melted chocolate. (The photo is also on the take-out bags.)
We took the train to Nice then took the above-ground metro to the ocean. We saw this on our walk to the water.
Mediterranean ocean water on my boots!
Part of the promenade was taken up by trick roller bladers and skateboarders. Some of them grabbed the back of a passing trolley.
After seeing the ocean and walking the promenade, we climbed Castle Hill for the view.

Going down the back side of Castle Hill gives you this view.
Back at sea level in Nice.
The sunset was amazing, even though the cold was pretty intense by then, so we sat on a wall and took photos until the foodies found the best place for dinner.
This is the flower market during the day, but becomes outdoor dining for cafes at night. Castle Hill is in the background.
Mumsey’s salad and eggplant parmesan and Steven’s pizza.
Crepes for dessert!
Following the bright lights back to the train station.
We ran into a Christmas-y festival.

Pedaling the bicycles powers the Christmas tree-shaped lights.
Galeries Lafayette! We cut through here to get out of the cold for a while.
Notre Dame Du Nice.
This guy was carrying a pink and purple felt hippo backpack. Awesome!
