The Internet claims that Ensign Peak is a short hike with a great view. Time to test that theory.
To get to Ensign Peak take the road that runs along the east side of the capitol building.

This caught my eye across the street from the capitol building.
The buffalo is one of two sitting on the grounds of the Old City Hall, now known as Council Hall. Originally built in 1865, “the structure was removed, stone by stone, and restored to its original likeness” in 1961.
The Ensign Peak trailhead.
The trail has periodic rest stops that mirror the style of the trailhead.

The U!
The airport and the Great Salt Lake.
The top of the peak. “July 26, 1847. Two days after the Mormon pioneers entered this valley Brigham Young and party climbed to this point and with the aid of field glasses made a careful survey of the mountains, canyons and streams. … Wilford Woodruff, first to ascend the peak, suggested it as a fitting place to ‘set up an ensign’ (Isaiah 11:12).”
Downtown.
On an unrelated note for all you video game enthusiasts, I finally re-found EA! (I’d seen it once before and could  never remember where.)
