This is the last year of the North Pend Oreille Valley Lions Club Excursion Train Ride. The train runs for an hour and a half through the fall colors along the Pend Orielle River from Ione, WA to Metaline Falls, WA.
The engine of our train.
This is not the direction we are going. But I don’t know that yet.
We purchased hot chocolate and an infant-sized bag of kettle corn. We regret nothing.
We elected to ride in one of the open-air cars. Or at least Nene and I thought it was a good idea. Steven was wiser, but still willing to indulge us. Anyway, it was cold. Huh. Imagine that.
The interior of our train car.
Misty views!
Crossing the trestle over the Box Canyon Reservoir dam.
The first tunnel!

The view through the car’s other side.
Local theater members hold up the train in Metaline Falls and come aboard for donations.

The train pulling in to pick up our tour group, views from the train, the engine passing by at the end of the line to pull us in the other direction, and more views from the train.
