Rhododendron hunting! Nene led the charge to Olympia where we planned to visit the waterfront, the farmer’s market, and a couple parks looking for flowers.
We started by walking past the marina.
Then we wandered around the farmer’s market and bought a couple vegan cookies from Blue Heron Bakery.
We found a wall of flowers! It was in a parking lot behind a coffee shop, and you could hardly see the green leaves because the blooms were so full. I have zoomed-out shot, but it’s so eye-bleedingly bright that I used this close-up instead. (I think the phone was struggling to capture the color.)
My favorite thing to do in Olympia is to get a Sabich sandwich from Nineveh Assyrian food truck. These lilacs were near the picnic tables.
Then we went to Priest Point Park to wander their rhododendron section. They weren’t quite ready yet, but the park had some gorgeous non-rhododendron scenery.
Our final stop was Tumwater Falls.
There weren’t a lot of flowers in the park, but the parking lot was exploding with flowers.
More flowers in the parking lot.
