Breka Bakery & Cafe started in 2006 at what used to be a well-known German bakery in Vancouver. The new owners kept some of the original recipes and expanded to seven locations that are open 24 hours a day.
That implies that they’re popular enough to have people wandering through 24 hours a day, and (since we went at a non-mealtime) it looks like they are. Their website even hints that they’re the go-to for film crews that wander up from Hollywood to film in Vancouver.
And they have some vegan options! This is the roasted cauliflower cannellini bean sandwich.
Their display cases were full of impressive goodies.
We left with the Earl Gray cream puff, a pistachio donut, a London fog donut, and one of their famous kuffles, a “soft and crunchy cookie made with a cream cheese dough … rolled with cinnamon sugar and ground hazlenuts.”
