This week included a walk to The Battery, a trip to Roosevelt Island, a walk through Central Park, and wandering Midtown with Alyssa (she took the train up from Philadelphia so we could see The Book of Mormon).
The Battery lawn in springtime. The lawn was open and they had blue chairs set up under the trees.
Manhattan from Roosevelt Island.
Roosevelt Island is in the middle of the East River, between Manhattan and Queens, and it has a subway stop so it’s easy to get to. It was so tranquil! It seemed like a nice place to settle in for a picnic with stunning views.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Alyssa and I went to the Museum of the City of New York and all I managed to do was take a photo of this book in the gift shop.
Our post-Book of Mormon on Broadway wandering through Midtown took us past St. Patrick’s Cathedral, which had a delightful floral garland over the door.
The “Each One” mosaic by Nick Cave in the 42nd Street subway station.
Alyssa and I had lunch at Schaller’s Stube Sausage Bar where they have the Beyond Classic, a Beyond brat with Dusseldorf mustard and sauerkraut on a pretzel bun. They also have Beyond chili that’s spiked with chocolate. I may have been back since this photo was taken. Maybe more than once.
And I know they have it in Los Angeles, but I got into the Van Leeuwen habit in New York. Their vegan mint-chip is so good.
