I had only been to Long Beach a few times before I moved there, usually for visits to the Aquarium of the Pacific.
Growing up, I assumed the aquarium had always been there, but it only opened in 1998. They just celebrated their 25th anniversary.
Although it’s not a huge aquarium, it’s pretty awesome because they have otters and seals/sea lions. The last few times I’ve been there is a sea lion with an itchy tail. (You can tell it’s a sea lion because of the ears.)
Caught the eel on an out-and-back swim from its burrow.
The big tank in the entrance hall.
Sand dollars!
I usually associate salmon with the Pacific Northwest, but apparently there are Southern California steelhead!
A jellyfish, a sea lion, a sea star, and an otter.
