For Juneteenth VegOut published a list of black-owned vegan restaurants to support in Los Angeles. Vegan A.F. is a two-week-old food truck that serves comfort-food eggrolls (they’re called Loaded Eggrolls). There’s a Philly roll, a cheeseburger roll, and a pizza roll (pictured). The pizza roll is served with marinara dipping sauce and has all the good smells of pizza (green bell pepper, olives, mushrooms, spices).
While going through VegOut’s list, it seemed like the greatest concentration of vegan food was in Leimert Park, and in Leimert Park the greatest concentration of vegan food was at Unifest.
Found the food truck! Founder Chanel Goodson has a background in food marketing and (fortunately for us) decided to funnel her knowledge into vegan street food. In addition to Loaded Eggrolls, Vegan A.F. serves Loaded Fries and even has banana pudding complete with nilla wafers.
As a Unifest bonus, Vegan A.F was serving a peach cobbler eggroll with date caramel dipping sauce. I ate that first. It was everything I’d want in peach cobbler, maybe more because of the chewy-crunchy eggroll shell. It hit the spot.
