Spent a beautiful weekend visiting Nene! This is a fish ladder for the salmon run (more on that later).
We started our adventure with Girl’s Night Out, a retail tour of downtown Centralia. This is a display at The Shady Lady.
Tea towels at Urban Farmgirl Market.
How awesome are these vintage salt and pepper shakers?!
After Girl’s Night Out we headed to Country Chicks Market to browse the home decor. At one point a huge dog wandered in and settled down for a photo op.
Country Chicks offerings! (We left with the pig.)
And to wrap up day one, we drove out to the Adna Fall Festival.
Back home with Sam. He’s not sure how we could have left him.
We used up the remaining daylight under the trees in the backyard, drinking elderflower soda and eating Trader Joe’s snickerdoodles.
For dinner we got vegan burritos from Aliberto’s and vegan shakes from Burgerville and watched Disney’s Robin Hood. It was a good Saturday night!
We started day two with goodies from the all-vegan Park Side Cafe. It was really good. The carrot lox especially was a stand-out.
After lunch we headed to Tumwater Falls for the salmon run where the salmon try to swim upstream through a series of waterfalls. The highest waterfall is 82 feet, which is a bit too tall for the salmon (hence the fish ladders like in this post’s first photo).
The park surrounding the falls is 15 acres of trails and stunning scenery.
By the time we showed up over 6,000 salmon had passed through for a total of over 3 million eggs.
Salmon waiting in line to try to jump the falls.
And finally, we took a trip to Costco. I haven’t been to a Costco in 20 years or so, and it was so cool. The bulk! The huge shopping carts! The massive baby yodas!
Flying past Mount Rainier on the way home.
