We got there early. When we left, this area was full of people waiting in line to buy tickets.
As usual, we headed straight for Ford. Since I’d already driven a new Mustang, it felt marvelous to sit in these–like visiting an old friend with the same three-note tone to let you know that the door is open.
They had two free-to-play Mustang pinball machines!
This isn’t the Escape.
Have you watched a car ad recently? I hadn’t, so my dad explained the Kia hamsters to me.
Hellcat.
The stormtrooper Fiat photo opportunity. (If any of you read my dad’s Christmas letter this year, this is what he was talking about.)
The Jeep Renegade.
This is on the Renegade’s dash, and I thought it was awesome.
The rocket Mustangs. The silver one is on the “rocket launcher.”

Aston Martin’s Bond car.
The Mach IV (4 Engine Mustang Drag Car), with four Ford 351 Windsor V8 engines and a 7-second quarter mile.
The chutes on the Mach IV. The car’s most interesting aspect (according to the sign) is that all its mechanical presence powering all four wheels was achieved with a single clutch.
I think we need to bring back driving gloves.

On to the aftermarket hall!

And, as is tradition these days, a stop at West Hollywood’s Veggie Grill for a delicious lunch. After drooling over mouth-wateringly shiny cars, we can drool over the world’s best sweet potato fries.
Some random autoshow clips.
