Happy Tax Day! So the snow that we’d expected this winter finally showed up today. Salt Lake International Airport got more snow by noon today than in January, February, and March combined. Yesterday was sunny and warm, but the wind kicked up, causing major traffic accidents and power outages. The temperature dropped to 35 degrees, and it’s been snowing ever since.
The view from my apartment this morning.
The 7-9 inches of snow that fell up at the U (which is slightly higher elevation than downtown).
Walking to school under leafy snow-covered trees.
A tree by the field house.
Walking to math class. Students are angry/disbelieving that it’s halfway through April and their t-shirt and shorts weather has been taken from them. I keep overhearing, “It was 70 degrees! I was getting tan!” (A few people still chose to dress in shorts, t-shirts and soaking wet tennis shoes today.)
My favorite tree on campus (a Japanese Flowering Cherry tree), on the way to the engineering building.
The commute home yesterday (past center-aisle displays of sunglasses, sandals, and spring flowers when I cut through Smith’s), and the view out the window this morning. (The first two clips were shot on my phone!)
