The Silver Mountain Resort is home to North America’s longest gondola! The ride from bottom to top is 3.1 miles.
The chairlift at the top of the mountain. The idea is to take your bike up on the gondola, ride some trails to the bottom of the chairlift, the ride some different trails to the bottom of the chairlift, and eventually come back down on the gondola.
One of the mountain bike trails that passes underneath the chairlift.
Contemplating a jump on the expert bike course. The “easy” trails turned out to be relatively difficult, so I can’t imagine what adventures the expert course contains.
How the bikes travel on the chairlift.
Kellogg, Idaho, is not named for John Harvey or Will Keith, but for Noah, a prospector who discovered a lead/silver mine while looking for a runaway donkey he had borrowed. His discovery eventually resulted in the town of Kellogg and a local sign that says “This is the town founded by a jackass and inhabited by his descendents.” Noah’s Canteen is a restaurant on the grounds of the Silver Mountain Resort.
My mind-blowing Galena Ridge pizza (sans cheese, which baffled the kitchen staff) at Noah’s Canteen. Roasted garlic, fresh basil, tomatoes, and balsamic drizzle broiled on a cracker-thin base with a phenomenal crust.
Sunset on the way to Walmart in the neighboring town of Smelterville.
Watching gondolas take off from the base, riding the chairlift, and Steven following Nene on the bike trail.
