The hike to Sturtevant Falls is a reverse hike, so the first part involves a trip down “cardiac hill” into this part of Big Santa Anita Canyon.
The river has several breaks built into it.
There is a community of cabins in Big Santa Anita Canyon. The cabins were built from 1907-1936 and have no utilities except for a crank phone up to the pack station by the parking lot. Supplies are still carried in on mules.
Sturtevant Falls! Named for 1890s trailblazer Wilbur M. Sturtevant.
