If you research the holidays in New Orleans, you’ll probably see a recommendation for the lights at the Roosevelt. The lobby has a block-long hallway full of enchanting decorations.
The lobby is also home to the Paris Exhibition Clock, the largest (known) conical clock in existence.
The hotel is named for Theodore Roosevelt, who helped Panama separate from Columbia so that the United States could build the Panama Canal. New Orleans gained a lot financially from the opening of the canal, since they were the closest port.
The hotel originally opened in 1893 as Hotel Grunewald, it became the Roosevelt in 1923, and these days it’s one of the Waldorf Astoria hotels.
