On Friday, September 21, the Space Shuttle Endeavour, strapped to the back of a modified Boeing 747 and escorted by two F-16 fighter jets, did a low-level flyover of Southern California before landing at LAX and being towed through the streets of Los Angeles to its new home at the California Science Center. Flyover locations included the Santa Monica pier, Disneyland, Hollywood, Griffith Park and Observatory, and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena. We stood on the roof of our office building in Pasadena’s South Lake Avenue district and watched the awesome lunch-time scene. Jeff also saw the space shuttle as it flew over the studios in Burbank, and I have him to thank for the photo and video.

A couple months later, the Toyota display at L.A. Auto Show featured the Tundra that pulled the Endeavour through the streets.

Toyota Tundra was also on display at the L.A. Live during the Wreck-It Ralph wrap party. The sign says “On Oct. 12, 2012 a stock Tundra will tow 145 tons. Yeah, it can handle your boat.”
