One of the nice things about staying in New York is that you can get to the High Line early on a weekday morning and have the place (sort of) to yourself. Plus it’s springtime, so you get to see all the purple flowers and dogwood trees blooming. I started at the south end (and meant to walk the entire thing, but the horseshoe around the train yards was closed for construction). Nina Chanel Abney’s “NYC LOVE” mural celebrates arriving in New York for the first time as a tourist or student, “an ode to the feeling of newness and unfamiliarity that breeds excitement and possibility,” according to the High Line’s art Instagram account. The tracks were bursting with different types of purple flowers. They looked especially dazzling in the early morning light (plus it was watering time, so they were sort of sparkly from the water on the leaves). By janellemichaelisMay 25, 2023
