It was Nene, actually, who “discovered” Salud on her first visit after I’d just moved here. She brought back a menu and a juice sample, and suddenly I had a favorite local juice shop. So I looked up what the internet’s favorite flavor was, and Summer Nights seemed like the go-to. It was so good that I haven’t really branched out. Maybe one day. Not today.
Angela started juicing as a way to help her father recover from quadruple bypass surgery. In an attempt to disguise the flavor of vegetables, she added plenty of fruit juice and started experimenting with better and better combinations. Before drinking the juice they’d toast with, “Saludos a su salud.”
Three years later Angela had two brick-and-mortar juice shops in Long Beach.
The shop is delightful. Both side walls are open to the outside. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to get your food to-stay.
The 4th & Cherry location is the first store that Angela opened in 2015. (It’s across the street from Alder & Sage!) The building was built in 1928.
Salud is also a great place to stock up on local goodies like flowers, merch, or snacks.
Their vegan pastry selection is excellent. It’s a good place to get San & Wolves baked goods (a vegan Filipino bakeshop that’s currently working on their own brick-and-mortar).
A buko pop tart from San & Wolves.
