 Manzanar National Historic Site

Manzanar, according to the web site: “In 1942, the United States government ordered more than 110,000 men, women, and children to leave their homes and detained them in remote, military-style camps. Manzanar War Relocation Center was one of ten camps where Japanese American citizens and resident Japanese aliens were interned during World War II.”
 Comments from visitors.
 Inside the museum.
Part of the deal with Manzanar was that the buildings would be torn down once the camp was no longer needed. They have recently reconstructed buildings similar to the original ones.
People shared rooms like this with strangers.
And had desert views like this.

 The Ford kitchen truck.
 The eating area.

 “Pleasure Park 1943”
The parks were destroyed along with the buildings, but apparently the Japanese built amazing (considering the lack of water) gardens and parks.
 The cemetery.
Paper cranes tied to cemetery posts.
