I had a few things left on my to-do list on my last morning in the Azores. First up …
… Plantações de Chá Gorreana (the Gorreana tea plantation).
They only grow tea in two places in Europe: here at the Gorreana tea factory, and about a mile and a half down the road at Tea Porto Formoso.
Gorreana Tea Factory has an ocean view.
And cats!
The second item on my to-do list was Ermida da Mãe de Deus.
Ermida da Mãe de Deus is up a steep hill in Ponta Delgada and has a nice view of the city.
And lastly, I had lunch at Treze, a vegetarian restaurant in Ponta Delgada.
I got the lunch special, which was the soup of the day, pasta, and your choice of tea. (I picked the fennel-ginger tea.)
But since the pasta had cream sauce, they made me an amazing salad instead. There was couscous with chopped dates, black beans with crispy rice, pickled vegetables, lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers and hummus, and pears, bananas, and chia seeds.
Turning leaves into tea! This room smelled heavenly.
