Long Beach started a monthly vegan market place and food court at the downtown outlet mall. Vegan District at the Pike was supposed to kick off the first Saturday in February but was canceled due to high wind and flood advisories. So I wanted to show support when they gave it another try the first Saturday in March. It was still raining (more like bucketing), and I was afraid no one would leave the house.
My fears were unwarranted. It was packed. It was shoulder-to-shoulder at a non-meal time (around 2 p.m.), and the lines for food were insane. I don’t think there are this many vegans in Southern California let alone Long Beach.
While I waited for my breakfast burrito from Eat Love I went next door to Maya’s Cookies and asked for the best one. They gave me this brown butter cookie topped with salt. I meant to eat it slowly because with the amount of people in front of me I knew it’d be a long time until my burrito. I ended up inhaling it.
The burrito was worth the wait! This is Eat Love’s Hash & Dash Burrito with tater tots and vegan eggs, cheese, and a piece of fried chicken. Now I just have to wait until Vegan District in April.
