This is my Mustang. After having a 2002 V6 Mustang for 14 years, I’ve upgraded to a 2016 V6 Mustang. I used to have 190 horsepower, and now I have 300. You can tell the difference. If you were doing freeway speeds or going up a hill in the 2002 Mustang, it sounded like a bit of a struggle–you’d have to turn up the volume on the CD player to hear the music. But the 2016 Mustang can hit 90 MPH by the end of the freeway onramp with only slight pressure on the accelerator. No need to turn up the CD to hear the music, because the car sounds like it’s doing 25 MPH. It’s like they strapped a luxury cabin to a rocket.
And it sure is fun to drive. Slow-moving SUVs leap out of the fast lane when then see this grill bearing down on them. (Well, it happened once anyway.) And it is so shiny! The previous owner enjoys detailing cars. So if you pop the hood or look at the spare tire compartment, both areas are spotless and grease-free. The previous owner is also a Mustang person–his first car was a 1968 Mustang–so it turned out well for everyone that the Mustang is staying in a Mustang family.
My dad found the Mustang and went with me to take it for a test drive. After we drove it and shook hands with the owner over an accepted offer, my dad and I went to the Long Beach marina farmers market for celebratory vegan biscuits and gravy and a vegan cinnamon roll (all from the Plant Alchemy booth).
The next day (December 10–the date on this post) I met the owner at the bank where I exchanged a check for the title and key fobs. I felt like I’d just purchased a Faberge egg spaceship that I now had to drive down the 405 in rush hour traffic.
But I made it. Here is the Mustang parked in its new garage. I’ve since driven it to the DMV in Banning to get it registered (in this car the 86-mile trip goes fast), to the Long Beach airport to pick up Alyssa (yay!), and to the beach this morning for a photoshoot.
