After the frantic sprint to Machu Picchu, we took the morning in Cusco to wander around and catch our breath. We realized three things: we had strange blood-blister bites from a mysterious insect that apparently enjoys the tourists in the high mountains, you can’t flush toiled paper in this part of the world, and they have an unbelievable plethora of stray dogs . Although Cusco doesn’t look like the Disney movie, that didn’t stop us from breaking out in “The Emperor’s New Groove” theme song at random and frequent moments.
